Biography
A Canadian painter, draughtsman, printmaker, muralist, sculptor and educator of the 1960s and 1970s, Brian Fisher (1939–2012) was born in Uxbridge, England and immigrated to Canada in 1940. Fisher studied at the Regina College of Art, the University of Saskatchewan, the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University) and the Academia de Belle Arti (Rome). Fisher's paintings have been shown across Canada following his first solo exhibition at the New Design Gallery in Vancouver in 1965. He taught visual art at the Vancouver School of Art (1964–65), UBC (1968), the University of Calgary (1969), Banff Centre (1973) and the University of Regina (1976–80).
