Aspects of Contemporary Canadian Art

Scope & Content

File consists of a press release, artist biographies, catalogue lists, loan agreement, comment booklet, and slides. The exhibition was on loan from the Collections of the University of Calgary at the Nickle Arts Museum. The exhibition included works by Barbara Astman, Derek Michael Besant, David Bolduc, Harold Klunder, Christian Knudsen, Suzy Lake, Medrie MacPhee, Ronald Moppett, John Noestheden, Jaan Poldass, Ted Rettig, Otto Rogers, Helen Sebelius, and Andrew Smith. The selection shown in the exhibition was chosen to give an idea of the range of artists in the collections, while defining a loose theme. These works were all been acquired in the last three years prior to the exhibition. Each piece was bought for its individual quality, with a view to developing the collection in ways which represent the many and varied approaches to art by contemporary artists across Canada. The exhibition ran January 13-March 1, 1987.
