Bernadette Phan

As a Vietnamese Canadian visual artist based in Vancouver, Bernadette Phan (b. 1966) pulls from many locations and influences, from her education in Montreal (BFA, Concordia) and Philadelphia (MFA, Tyler University) to her immersion in the Kwakwaka'wakw community of Alert Bay, BC. Her practice makes use of traditional media such as painting, drawing and weaving to explore interculturality, embodiment, vulnerability and active presence.
