Object Description

This looseleaf catalogue documents Iannone’s 1980 exhibition at the Neue Galerie-Sammlung Ludwig, Stadt Aachen, Germany (April 26-June 8, 1980). The exhibition included work by Iannone alongside work by her mother, Sarah Pucci (American, 1902-1996). Untrained as an artist, Pucci worked in candy factories, at garment factories and as a bookkeeper. From 1959 to her death in 1996, Pucci constructed small sculptures explicitly for her daughter, covering Styrofoam forms in sequins, jewels, beads, pins and fake pearls. For more than three decades, Pucci created these objects and sent them directly to her daughter wherever she might be – Berlin, Dusseldorf, London, Reykjavik. Included in this catalogue are photographs of these sculptural gifts. Since the death of Pucci and more recently of Iannone, the works by Pucci that are documented in the catalogue have been exhibited internationally in a number of exhibitions. The catalogue’s internal sheets are organized into five folders designed by Iannone and embellished with texts and drawings, entitled respectively: “Iannone’s yoni,” “I search the world…,” “A Fluxus essay,” “Notes on the work of D. Iannone and S. Pucci” by Wolfgang Becker with bio-bibliographies and “Sarah Pucci.”
