Object Description
Item is a pack of "Le Jeu de Marseille" playing cards. The playing cards have been reimagined using the suites of flames, stars, wheels, and locks, representing love, dreams, revolution, and knowledge. The cards have been illustrated by artists Victor Brauner, Andre Breton, Oscar Dominguez, Max Ernst, Jacques Herold, Wifredo Lam, Jacqueline Lamba, and Andre Masson, with jokers illustrated by Alfred Jarry. A text by Andre Breton accompanies the cards, explaining their origin and meaning.
