- Object Description
- the moment optical diffuses focus features an invisible jewel, bringing to secret its remove from a cellophane-threaded stain is made up of layers of prints. The reversed text on the bottom layers reads, “memory’s seine gathered and draggered kept close to the breast as if with its own sweet breathy...”. The text ends there, or is possibly obscured by the fabric sewn across the bottom third section of the work. The text in the bottom third of the work, “the moment optical diffuses / focus features an invisible jewel, bringing to secret / its remove from a cellophane- threaded stain,” is taken from Vancouver poet Deanna Ferguson’s poem, “Lick Fiction,” published in her 2002 book of poetry The Relative Minor. The image is a delicate line-rendering of the trachea and lungs – almost a medical illustration, with the bronchial tubes becoming almost like plant vines or roots. The work takes up imagery of the senses and the body, themes and motifs that the artist has explored throughout her career.
