- Object Description
- Each of the Uncharismatic marionettes is a different bat character. Given this particular moment in history, Gabi Dao sees the bat at the intersections of ecology, community and economy, pestilence (in particular, the Covid-19 pandemic) and good fortune, sight and sound as well as otherness and belonging. This marionette is from a series of 20 created during Dao’s 2022 residency with the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, made from hand-me-down and inherited clothing, doll and teddy bear shoes, fishing line, plywood controllers and clay.
