- Michael Morris' Atlantis / Jericho (previously titled Mirror Sculpture) comes from an especially productive period of his work when painting had been confronted with the new ideas of conceptual art. During this period Morris was painting, taking photographs, making films and mounting performances under two thematic categories; "Colour Bar Research" and "Lite-On." The latter dealt with mirrors. Mirrors were interactive and included the viewer in the works while altering the space of viewing. Atlantis / Jericho is an arrangement on the floor. At this time Morris was thinking of works of as "props" for performance. So this sculpture, which will change so much depending on light and viewer, is a kind of state that includes the viewer.
