- Object Description
- Lidded jar. Clear glaze; manganese-iron-cobalt underglaze; black-blue salt glaze. Jar of cylindrical form, 'twisted nugget' knobbed lid, strap side handles. Repeated, horizontally incised banding, sharply impressed vertical bamboo knife indentations, flat base. Light red stoneware. Interior clear glazed, exterior underglaze of dark manganese-iron-cobalt pigment fusing dark black-blue with salt glaze. Down's Point salt kiln. Bloating to body. Vertical firing crack down one side, thru body partly, and spreading at base. -Charmian Johnson, 2005
