- Object Description
- Printed text reads: “'Gray matter,’ being a euphemism for the brain implied the dimension of human intelligence. It is the faculty of reason that has enabled man not merely to humanize his environment but also to invest himself to progressively create himself out of raw nature. Various orders of work and labour have been the vehicle for this process. It follows, therefore, that art, being pure work - work beyond necessity - should ideally be based on reason rather than on mystical projection, regressive primitivism or metaphysical speculation.”
