Spatial Poem No. 1

Item is a work by Mieko Shiomi titled "Spatial Poem No. 1". The work is the first of a series of nine. Item consists of board showing the image of a world map. Recipients of Shiomi's invitation for No. 1 were asked to choose words and assign them to places. Words and phrases were created into flagged pins, which mark the map creating a three-dimensional poem. Almost all pins are dated and credited. Participating artists include Allison Knowles, Richard Hamilton, and Nam June Paik, among many others.
