In this series of images from 1972, artist Michael Morris photographed the aftermath of a labour strike on the City of Vancouver’s urban and natural spaces. In April 1972, 3,200 city workers went on strike following the breakdown of negotiations with the City of Vancouver and surrounding municipalities. As a result, garbage collection, park maintenance and sewer and road work were paused for several weeks. Morris’s images capture the city and its residents as they deal with the impact of the strike.
