Manuscript and research files series

Series consists of Kenneth Coutts-Smith’s research notes and articles relating to his interest in a social analysis of art, Yugoslavian artists, and other topics related to art and cultural criticism. Series includes his research notes for these articles and notes used for teaching purposes. In addition, Coutts-Smith’s fictional writings, such as poems, short stories, and manuscript drafts, are included. The manuscript The Demise of the Avant-Garde has been added to this series; the project to publish this work has been abandoned. Along with the numerous copies of various versions of the manuscript, there is correspondence and other material related to getting The Demise of the Avant-Garde published. This first effort at publication was pursued in the early 1980s by Karl Beveridge, Lisa Steele, and Helen K. Wright.
