Scope & Content
File consists of postcards, invitations, press release, correspondence, newspaper articles, images and slides. The exhibition featured nearly four thousand selected commercial picture post cards, as well as five hundred original photographs, drawings, collages, and objects – all sent as post cards by artists from many parts of the world to Image Bank (Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov). The exhibition was curated by Alvin Balkind. The show was exhibited at the UBC Fine Arts Gallery October 13 to October 30, 1971 and circulated across Canada by the National Gallery of Canada. A boxed edition of 80 original artist postcards was printed to accompany the show, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the picture postcard.
