Series is divided into two subseries:

Escaping Gas subseries (29.1-1)
Notebooks, correspondence, and other writing subseries (29.1-2)

The first subseries contains the records pertaining to Escaping Gas, including files of the intellectual divisions and themes that are reflected in the completed manuscript; Balkind's notes, various copies and edits; and correspondence regarding the manuscript's publication. The second subseries consists of the other writings of Balkind.
