Scope & Content

Subseries consists of material relating to public exhibitions that featured Glenn Lewis' work, or performances created by or performed by Glenn Lewis. Also consists of material relating to exhibitions and performances which Glenn Lewis contributed to, whether as curator or director, as well as material relating to Glenn Lewis' more static work, mainly ceramic.

Contains information relating to Glenn Lewis' now famous photographs of Marilyn Monroe in Banff (photographs themselves are in file 23.1-3.03). For information regarding the New York Correspondence Sponge School of Vancouver, whose meetings at swimming pools walked a fine line between performance and reality, please see subseries 23.1-5. Some files relating to the New Era Social Club, Intermedia, and the Western Front are also in said subseries, depending on their content. Subseries also contains works exhibited at the Douglas Gallery, at the Vancouver Art Gallery. For those works Glenn Lewis was commissioned to construct (such as Artifact, the salt-shaker mural for the Osaka Expo, or Mural 1984) or for information relating to the sale of a specific piece, please see subseries 23.1-2. Contains material relating to the Mail Art project.
