Scope & Content
Series consists of a large body of photographic materials shot by Roy Kiyooka. These images reflect a creative output of over 20 years and illustrate the source for many of Kiyooka's ideas and the process leading to his finished artworks (which are not included in the fonds). Works created out of this immense output include Transcanada Letters, Pacific Windows, Long Beach to Peggy's Cove, StoneDGloves, Van Gogh and the Bird of Paradise, and many other projects. These photographs also document many of Kiyooka's travels across Canada and to Japan and Mexico, which provided creative inspiration for both two-dimensional and literary works. Images also include portraits and candid shots of Kiyooka's friends and family, including such well-known artists and writers as Allen Ginsberg, Paul Wong, and others.
