Scope & Content
Series consists of one copy of the Space Atlas. This copy is likely one received by Gary Lee-Nova as he was one of the contributors.
Dana Atchley and his Ace Space Company conceived the Space Atlas. The idea was that contributors would each send in material not to exceed 3 pages, and 250 copies of each page. Each contributor would receive 2 copies of the completed Space Atlas. Ace Space Co. was responsible for assembling and punching the pages, providing the binders, and mailing. All the material received would be included without editing, and no rights would be reserved. In addition, no copies of the Space Atlas would be made for sale, as only its contributors would receive copies. The project drew over 120 participants from seven countries, and required special arrangements with the head of customs in Vancouver to allow for duty-free delivery of the incoming packages of pages. Financial assistance for the project was received through a grant to the Ace Space Company from the Canada Council to help cover materials and postage.
