Daniel Buren file

File consists of documents related to an event by Buren, and artists Oliveier Mosset, Michel Parementier, and Niele Toroni to destabilize traditional notions of art by questioning the foundations of art and the gallery experience. A gallery space at the Salon of Young Painters in Paris was the scene of the performance, and consisted of an absence of the artists’ work. Canvases of minimalist and stark geometry were removed from the walls on opening night to expose and deconstruct the expected hierarchy of the gallery tradition. File consists of two copies of an announcement/invitation to the opening night of the event, and two copies of a manifesto declaring "We are not painters."
